Does Strava cost anything?

Strava is free to use! Record your runs and rides, track your progress and join Challenges at no cost. Upgrade to Strava Premium membership and find even more motivational features like goal setting, filtered leaderboards, heat maps and more. Learn more about the benefits of Strava Premium.

What are the benefits of Strava Premium?

There are plenty of features depending on what your goals are, and goal setting equates to motivation. Cyclists get power data analysis, runners get pace analysis, all athletes get heart rate analysis, heat maps and more. Find out more on our Premium Features page.

Can I change plans at any time?

Yes, you can switch plans any time from your account settings page. You can change from monthly to annual membership, and you can upgrade or downgrade at any time.

Uploading

Can I add runs and rides manually, or do I have to use a GPS device?

Yes, you can add an activity to Strava even if you didn't record it with a GPS device. Strava lets you enter the type, time and distance for any activity. This is a great way to keep track of other activities like yoga or indoor workouts, or for the times you may forget your device. Read this article for more information.

Which types of files can I upload?

You can upload files of your rides and runs directly to Strava via our file uploader tool. You can upload the following file types as long as the file is 25MB or smaller: GPX, TCX, FIT.

Privacy Settings

How does Strava protect my privacy?

Strava allows you to make any individual activity private. You can also create a privacy zone perimeter around any address like your home, office, or any place you tend to start activities from that you’d like to keep private. You can make your profile viewable only by signed in Strava members, and abbreviate your last name for more anonymity. In addition, you can require approval before allowing someone to follow you.
