I was inspired by this piece that Shane Miller sent me for the Warrandyte Diary that was planned prior the Festival TT being cancelled.

"I first took up road cycling in 2004, joining a weekly group ride on a Sunday morning out through Warrandyte. We would each time ourselves from the bridge over the Yarra and the undulating 6km long Warrandyte - Kangaroo Ground Road. This weekly challenge lead many of our group to take up competitive cycling. 10 years later, I've travelled all over Victoria and interstate competing at all levels of the sport. I regularly return to the same roads for training rides, still timing myself from the bridge to the top of the climb to check on my fitness. Riding on roads where my competitive cycling all began is always a pleasure.
When the I saw the Warrandyte Festival Cycling TT event covers the exact roads I train on, I was keen to be involved and encourage others to do the same. With four different rides on the day, there is something to suit everyone on two wheels.
I've already completed a few sneaky trial rides of the challenging 41 kilometre course. Without the pressure of competing for prizes or series points, my main motivation is to be the first back at the coffee shop".
