Good luck. It's an immense feat.
52 kph to 0 kph depressingly rapidly. Best of luck with your shoulder!
So awesome to get to follow your Tour rides! Good luck! :D
Hope recovery goes well, that looked brutal.
We are pulling for you!
Can't imagine getting back on the bike after that crash, hope you finish this TTT before the elimination time. Best of luck Ted
Tough day... Hang in there.
Nice is not so nice. :-(
We can only imagine the heartbreak. Only our best wishes for a quick recovery of the shoulder to start working towards Colorado. You are very tough to hang in there.
Really hope they let you start tomorrow Ted. You deserve to be in it. Fingers Crossed!!
Thank you for sharing your rides with all of us!!
Bummer on the shoulder, hope you get to ride tomorrow!
Tough call Ted - was really pulling for you. Look to next year!
Brutal news re the 7 seconds. I hope they let you start tomorrow!!!!
Dude just saw what the jury did. THAT SUCKS!!!!!!!
Man I hope The jury let you start tomorrow. Bad news. I don't think it helps that LA is commenting about it. Best wishes Ted!!
Big guy, really hope you get back in for tomorrow. Great effort today.
You will fight again Ted! Hang in there.
You're stronger than this ted. Rest, and come back at vuelta or other tour. You can do it!
Valiant effort Ted, one to be proud of. You will return!
Live to ride another day!
Bugger, just read this. Tough man Ted. Better luck next year:
And Cannondale’s Ted King was shafted by the race officials (governed by the UCI, not ASO), being eliminated from the race for not making the time cut, even though it’s unclear what was being used for timing since King didn’t have a timing chip on his bike.
King crashed on stage 1 and separated his shoulder and at the last moment chose to ride a standard road bike for the TTT because of the discomfort. He was obviously dropped but continued to ride alone and apparently missed the official time cut by seven seconds (he still pushed 365 watts over 32 minutes).
Truly a rubbish decision on the part of the UCI! Heal quickly, Ted.
totally gutted for you. Heal quickly Ted.
Considering the officials were partially to blame for the crash, I hope they let you continue. Tour De France needs legends like you.
Absolutely disgusting treatment by officials, monumental effort over the TTT by you Ted. You are an absolute legend.
What a legend mate....true champion....
Ted, you are one of my heroes! LTR!!
Hang in there Ted, you represent the best of US cycling on and off the bike.
Stay tough! I feel for you, come back and kick ass in Colorado! The Tour is never fair.
Fight hard Ted. Head high and get'em next year. We're rooting for you!
You did great Ted despite it all! Amazing!
Ted! I remember you gave me a hi5 here in Boston after a race. Out of this experience of LeTour, many success stories start in situations like these,
This would fuel up your spirit and you'll come back to race on fire, to claim great performances and victories. You are already a champion!
Sorry to hear of your DQ from the tour. Certainly doesn't seem well-justified to me.
Ted! Your DQ isn't sitting well with me, you should still be there! All the best with your recovery! That decision was BS!!
Hang in there buddy - we are all on your side.... You had it tough and deserve to be there for sure.. On the bright side.. you are all the talk to the tour de France..
Thanks for letting us follow. Get well soon and get back out there when you're ready.
Hold your head up, I've got a feeling this won't be your last TDF. Myself and countless others are living vicariously through you...
I will use your experience as inspiration on all my rides. If Ted wont quit neither will I!
That sucks big time, but all your peers and fans are with you! Give them hell on your next race!
Ted! BS decision but you are an inspiration as a fighter; impressive effort. You will come back even stronger and kill it next year. In the meantime heal and just keep on going...
Sorry to see this. It's a shame, but hopefully you can come back next year and tear it up.
Sincere bummer man. Keep it spinning.
My guess is that if your last name was more French sounding, you wouldn't be out of the tour now. Keep goin'!
Amazing show of class in how you are handling all this. I think it's fair to say that we all feel like we know you and we all feel terrible, but we are very proud of you. Get well and good luck in the next race!
#LetTedRide from one Ted to another!
An absolute joke that your out by no fault of your own. You and Cavendish are my favourites! Chin up !
this will make next year's tour that much sweeter. get better!
I'm on your side! Get well soon!
Amazing grit finishing yesterday...horrible decision to not let you continue
Going to be the sports story of the year when your back on the tour next year. You've become more than a New Hampshire legend now, but we're still holding it down for you back here in the 603! Heal up quick
Keep your head up, refs need to interpret the rules better, way to put your head down and fight for that TT time, we're all pulling for you back here in the states! Heal quickly!
Ted, you may be out of the Tour, but your fan/support base just exploded, including me. I am not Ted King t-shirt ordered... can't wait to see what you accomplish in the years to come.
All your fans in Vermont are there for you no matter how bad the official decision is.
Tough luck on the crash. Takes a strong man to continue.
Hang in there Ted everyone is on your side! You fought bravely and they made a wrong decision. Thank you for representing the USA we're proud of you...have a good 4th.
Sorry dude, you lived my dream.
So proud of you. Killer effort.
You'll be back
Ted, your effort during the TTT reaffirmed everything I love about cycling -- grit, determination, sacrifice, and more. Too bad the TDF couldn't see their way to let you continue, but we're all proud of you back here in the States.
You are an inspiration, Ted...all the best on your recovery
Very proud of you ,Ted. Thanks for sharing your crazy adventure with us. True strength. Pure toughness.
Just been reading your colomn in the July Bicycling magazine, probably my favorite so far. My kids had a lesson in just how hard it can be, watching you in the Tour yesterday, and your interview today. We're cheering for you though and have a speedy recovery. Heres to next year.
just watched your interview on CBSSN-my heart goes out to you Ted. I cannot imagine, as a recreational rider, riding with that type of injury, and then getting cut like that. I have been run over while on my bicycle(4 breaks in my back and a broken foot), and I know how much it hurt to try to ride MONTHS after the injuries, so kudos to you for riding with a painful injury without ANY recovery. That takes a lot of guts. Chin up, we are all PROUD of you!!!!!!
I don't even bike but watched your interview and felt for you. You (and your dad) will come back next year, harder better faster and stronger! Looking forward to seeing you in France next summer.
the jury should let you ride the rest of the tour.
I feel you King!
It's these experiences that build True Champions - you'll be back and stronger for it Ted, all the best to you and your family!!
Lets all go out and do a ride for ted. We feel for you ted. Great job in the tour...u made it to the top.you will be back.
Great job Ted we are all proud of you back in the states!
Those UCI, prolly hate Americans after Landis and Lance, and also Lemond blow the whistle on them. Who cares, heal fast and join other race besides TDF.... Comeback next year even stronger.
Hi Ted, my son Ryan(10yrs old) and I have been watching your challenge, and courage the last few days on the Tour and in his words we are "very proud that he is from America". I couldn't agree more. We will be in NH this summer for our annual vacation and biking often. We will be thinking about your training and efforts this year. Very inspiring!! Thank you for reminding France what American heart is all about. Well done. We will be following your comeback!!!!! Maybe we will see you out on the road someday if you make your way home, or at Horsefeathers:)
I agree with Ians Outburst 100%
What a joke! Any other sport would commend your efforts when your injured, can't believe their decision. Start focusing on 2014 TDF.
Ted, your awesome and a hero to me being a local boy. Keep up your hopes!
I hope your recovery is quick and looking forward to following you in your next race.
BS! Use it as fuel Ted!
You teams and fans are going to miss your presence @ TDF. You'll be back and on fire!
Sorry to hear the officials were so strict. Keep your chin up, train hard and it will pay off.
Your effort in the Team Time Trial was inspirational - you picked up four new fans in our family. Keep your chin up and, with a bit of luck, you'll rock the TDF next year.
Ted I saw u in cannon dale documentary in youtube
Ted, the silver lining in the rain cloud might be that your going to have a million fans (particularly in the US) after this last TDF. You have a lot of people routing for you now. Keep up the hard work!
Follow you on twitter and love reading your stuff on the blogs - really disappointed for you with TDF I hope you are back next year.
Ted whatever happened at the Tour this year can and happened before.Do not blame yourself for the misfortune last week.Be a pro and keep training there will be a lot more tours in the future.Best wishes!
You'll be back Ted, we know that!
Ted, your work ethic and performance got you to the Tour & will no doubt be what drive you to return stronger than ever. Looking forward to seeing you in "Future France" many times over
Ted you are a true champion! Pushing through on the TT with your injury was such an inspiration to all cyclists. Such a devastating BS decision on the official's part. It was really gut wrenching to watch, but you handled it with class. You are truly a legend!! Heal up and I look forward to seeing back in the saddle and stronger than ever! You've got a ginormous fan base here in Los Angeles! Ride on and thank you for letting us follow you...we'll be watching and cheering your future races! Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Ted.
These comments are truly incredible. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for all your kind words of support. I'll be back...
Ted we never doubted for a minute that you would be back. Better... stronger... faster.
On or off the bike, you are a class act American. Way to go Sir!
Ted, we're all stoked to see you get your revenge here in Colorado!
Bad luck followed by bad policy. Always enjoy your interviews, Strava uploads, and the damn hard work you pour out in every race. Hope you're rolling strong again soon!
